When you open a CAD assembly with multiple parts (.gz, .tar.gz, .tar, or .zip), nothing appears. This may be because:
Problem 1: The assembly package was created from the top-level folder of your model instead of from the folders and files inside of that folder. This resulted in an extra folder level in your packaged file.
Solution 1: Repackage the assembly by doing the following:
- Open the original folder that contains your assembly folders and files.
- Select all of the subfolders and files within the folder and package them according to the instructions of the application that you’re using.
For more information on packaging assemblies, see Preparing assembly files for import.
Problem 2: The assembly contains a part that has the same name as the top-level assembly. Therefore, Vertex can’t tell which one is the assembly due to how the .zip file was named.
Solution 2: Rename the .zip file (or tar, .tar.gz, or .gz) to include the extension of the top-level assembly.
Example: If you have a part named Motor.CATPart and the top-level assembly is named Motor.CATProduct, rename the .zip file to Motor.CATProduct.zip.
